Tidying Up Before Your Cleaner Arrives
The most common thing new customers say before a first visit is that they tidied up before the cleaner arrived. This helps massively. Your cleaner is there to clean the home so not having to tidy up makes a big difference. You do not need to clean it first.
What does help is a small amount of preparation that lets your cleaner use the time as efficiently as possible. None of it takes long. Most of it is simply about getting surfaces and floors clear so the cleaning can actually happen.
Declutter the Key Surfaces
Clear worktops, tables, and other flat surfaces of items that do not need to be there. A kitchen worktop covered in appliances, post, and general clutter takes much longer to clean than a clear one. A dining table that needs to be cleared before it can be wiped takes time away from other things.
This is not about having a minimalist home. It is about giving the cleaner direct access to the surfaces so that time is spent cleaning rather than moving things around and putting them back.
The same applies to floors. A bedroom floor covered in clothes cannot be vacuumed properly. Picking clothes up before the cleaner arrives means the carpet gets done. Leaving them on the floor means it does not.
Give Your Cleaner Clear Access
Your cleaner needs to be able to move around the property freely. If a room is blocked by furniture that cannot be moved, or a cupboard door cannot open, those areas will not get done properly.
For regular visits, this becomes less of an issue as your cleaner gets to know the layout of the property. For a first visit, a quick walk-through to point out anything that might be in the way is useful. It saves your cleaner time and avoids any confusion about whether certain areas were intentionally left.
Tell Us Your Priorities
The most useful thing you can do before any clean is tell us what matters most. MM Cleaning NI charges per hour and lets your priorities lead how that time is spent. If the bathroom needs extra attention, say so. If you want the kitchen done first every time, tell us. If there is a room that does not need cleaning on a particular visit, that time can go elsewhere.
This is especially useful for the first clean. Your cleaner is getting to know the property and will not yet know which areas matter most to you. A short list of priorities before the first visit gets the relationship started on the right foot.
What You Need to Have Ready
MM Cleaning NI brings all equipment and cleaning products. There is one thing you need to provide: a mop, bucket, and your preferred floor cleaner. Everything else comes with your cleaner.
Having the mop and bucket in an obvious place saves time at the start of the visit. If you have a preference for where the mop should be stored when the clean is finished, mention it.
Pets and Children
You do not need to arrange for children or pets to be out of the house during a clean. All MM Cleaning NI cleaners are comfortable working around animals and will not be disrupted by pets being present.
For young children who are at home during the visit, the main consideration is access. A cleaner cannot vacuum a room that children are playing in, and they cannot mop a kitchen floor that is being walked on. If the clean is happening during the day while children are home, a rough plan for which rooms can be done when is useful.
